Sunflower Cookies

What do you do when you have leftover sugar cookies, chocolate wafers, candy corn and frosting? You make Sunflower Cookies!!!

and wash it down with a steamy hot chocolate in your favorite mug!

Tell your girls what you are going to make and watch their eyes grow wide with excitement. (Try to forget the fact that it is a ridiculous amount of sugar and that you will rue the day you let them eat it all when they are racing through your house like a crazed pack of wild dogs.)

Don’t bother to wash the food off their faces from supper as it will only get full of frosting again anyway… (also note the remains of Halloween Tattoos…)

Olivia was so excited to start frosting her cookie that she was still busy chewing up the last piece of chicken from her dinner.

Start with a large, relatively thin, sugar cookie and spread frosting over the entire top of it, right to the edge. This will be messy and they will frost the plate, the table and themselves too. Guaranteed.

Next, take the chocolate wafer and place it in the middle of the frosted sugar cookie.

Start adding the candy corn around the outside of the cookie. It will begin to look like a flower.

Voila! A super fun, sunflower cookie.

Take pictures of the finished product and move the cookies from the crazy frosted plates to a clean plate.

Dig in! Both girls ate the candy corn one by one, then the chocolate wafer, a bite or two of the sugar cookie and then their eyes rolled back in their heads… just kidding. But they were too full to finish which is totally fine by me. The next hour was spent by them running through the house screaming at the top of their lungs. Fun times.

Is it just me, or does anyone else also think that candy corn kind of look like teeth…?

I think we were on the same sugary wave-length with our posts. Sanding sugar on cookies, not just cupcakes - love it. But these sunflower cookies are just the cutest! I bet you could also do a turkey version around Thanksgiving as well. I am printing this post out an putting it in my craft/parties file. Thanks, Kat! Have a wonderful day! xoxo

You could use the dishcloth and wipe the features clean off their faces, you know, like Gloria used to do to us when we were kids.
