Mmmmmmmmm… banana split. If I hadn’t been so busy snapping pictures, then perhaps I would have been able to eat more than just a few bites. Craig happily scarfed down the rest with Livie’s help.

Long Weekend (Part IV)

I feel like all I did was eat all weekend long. Every time I turned around, we were eating, and it was good.

We rounded out the long weekend with a cookout out at our dear friends’, Jon and Kim’s house. We really love spending time with them. They are easy to be with and if I had to use one word to describe our friendship with them it would be effortless. We always have a good time together, we can be ourselves, we can laugh about silly things and we can totally relax.  Kim’s parents, Paul and Trudy were there too and they are just as fun to be around!

We had such a wonderful long weekend with friends and family. I am thoroughly stuffed and worn out. It was well worth it. I love long weekends!

Long Weekend (Part III)

More food more fun!

Our friends, the Petersons, came over this morning for brunch.

Chicken Salad, fruit salad, apple and cheese crackers, watermelon,  mac n cheese, biscuits, croissants, deviled eggs, brownies, sugar cookies, apple pie, sweet tea and lemonade.

I’m forgetting something, I just know I’m forgetting something. (I totally forgot the chicken nuggets for the kids and the potato chips to go with the chicken salad.)

One more day of this long weekend. We’ll spend tomorrow with family and some more of our dear friends.

Long Weekend (Part II)

Today began with a trip down to IKEA. I think half the city of Atlanta had the same idea. Perhaps it was the mention of free breakfast that lured the crowd.

Or the fabulous sales they were having. (We already scored a Poang Chair and footstool for the playroom before Christmas so it wasn’t such a big deal not to get one this time around.)

It was INSANE!!! We didn’t’ want to stand in line to get one of the deals. The line was WAY TOO LONG! It wrapped around the entire self service area and for those of you who know IKEA, you know how long that line must have been. They were anticipating a huge crowd because the gave people bracelets for the sale items, they must have just had a limited supply and were trying to conduct some crowd control. I’m sad we didn’t get one of the nifty storage systems, it would have been perfect for the girls shoes and backpacks, but that line was definitely too long to stand it with a two year old and three year old. Lauren peed her pants in the checkout as it was…

We spent a short amount of time at home this afternoon for the girls to take their naps and then we headed across town to Kennesaw to my brother-in-law’s house for a family cookout. It was super fun. Craig’s sister, Ann, was in town and we haven’t seen her since Christmas so we were super excited about that too.

We feasted on cheeseburgers, hotdogs, all the fixins, mac n’ cheese, three bean salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, stir-fried vegetables and a bellyache.

It was Paw Paw’s birthday last week and Ann thought it would be fun to surprise him with a banana split. I baked brownies that had marshmallow-milk chocolate fudge icing so we threw those in the banana splits too. (Ann, that was a stinkin’ BRILLIANT idea) The room was dead silent when we devoured our dessert and then we licked the bowls clean.

After dinner, Gramma read a story to the grandbabies.
