Walks with Fergus

Most mornings, I can usually be found at the gym or on the tennis courts. Now that Lauren is finally back in Preschool, I also have time to take Fergus out for a much deserved walk before I head back for Carpool. I love this time I get to spend with him. He is such a sweet boy. He’s a people pleasing, rule follower, just like his Mama. We went down to the nature trail in our neighborhood and I let him off the leash on the path, he walked right beside me. I had to encourage him to run and have fun. At one point, I set his leash down on the pavement so I could take some pictures. He seemed very concerned and was worried we were going to leave it there. He kept looking back at it, uneasy and unsure of what to do.  IMG_4069(1) IMG_4072(1) IMG_4074(1)

We rescued Fergus when he just turned two. It was shortly after we had lost our last boxer and my heart was still broken. It didn’t take long for Fergus to fill our hearts and our home with joy. He has the most precious disposition, mellow and playful and sweet all over. His favorite things include riding in carpool, he sits in the front seat like a stoic old man, it’s quite a sight and all the teachers love him. I call him the king of the carpool.

He loves kids, cats, other dogs and everyone he meets.  He doesn’t chase squirrels, he rarely barks. He fills my world with so much joy, it is hard to put it into words the love I feel for this sweet boy.

For those of you who have experienced the special joy of sharing you life with a beloved pet, you understand what unconditional love is all about.

How could you not love his sweet face?

The Sunny Spot

His favorite place, where the sun streams through the window in warm, cozy ribbons.

Winter Watercolors

During our week of snow, we tried to come up with different activities to do while we were stuck at home. Once the snow turned to ice, playing outside was no longer an option and we weren’t willing to let the girls watch television all the time so we had to come up with something fun. Since the girls love to paint so much, they decided to create some winter watercolors.

I love that they choose to use whatever colors they like and are not stuck with always using traditional colors for their pictures.

Looks like the dogs got to the bottom of Lauren’s snowman…

Livie loves to paint and draw as well and decided to draw a snow-lady and a snowflake.

Taking a break… painting can be hard work!

I love the peace that accompanies a painting project. They are so focused on what they are doing.

Loving every minute of it.

This is where Fergus spent most of his time that week. Sitting or sleeping behind one of the dining room curtains in front of the heating vent.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It all started last night when we looked out the window and found this not long after the snow had started falling. It came down quickly and immediately stuck.

We told the girls we would go out and play in it after breakfast this morning. Craig grabbed our pink inflatable tube for the pool and we had an instant sled.

The girls were SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

Fergus HATED the snow. He had no idea what to do with himself.

Thanks for the awesome “Canada Mittens”, Nanny and Poppy! We love them!

Livie has been wanting to make a snow angel for ages. She finally got her wish.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

We used the tire tracks and they worked like a charm! I nearly ended up in the cul-de-sac when I went flying down the hill.

We left this hill and walked one street over to the steepest hill in the subdivision.

Half the neighborhood was here, it was definitely where all the action was. All the golf carts were out in full form. (I wonder how well they handle in the snow…)

Olivia took a turn tubing down the hill with her little neighborhood crush. She was thrilled. Lauren thinks he’s pretty nifty too. (Hey, wait for me!!!)

Cold and tired, we returned home for some hot baths and peppermint hot chocolate with whipped cream.

Warm and yummy!

Here’s the scene in the backyard. I cannot believe how much snow we got!

Our little “Snow Chalet”.

Something tells me I won’t be sitting in one of these chairs reading a magazine while the girls are playing in the backyard…

Big Kitty felt the same way about the snow as Fergus did. Not a fan.

Perhaps we’ll go outside again after naps and build a snowman in the front yard.
