Baby, it’s cold outside!

Brrrrrrrrr! It has been really cold here lately. School was cancelled yesterday due to 1/2 inch of snowfall and ice on the road. No kidding. The girls don’t have school on Fridays so it didn’t really affect us. We did get to have Daddy home for the day, so that was definitely an unexpected treat.

Here are a few things we’ve been doing to stay warm and keep busy.

I made Pioneer Woman’s Chicken Pot Pie on Wednesday.DSC07355

It was huge!

Check out that golden brown bubbly goodness. Yummy.

Boxers roasting by an open fire… Sorry Fergus, I know this isn’t your best side…

He is definitely loving life!

We made snowman crackers…

Spread a thin layer of peanut butter over three Ritz crackers, overlap the ends to build a snowman. Add chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.

DSC07362 DSC07363  Put them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, watch closely, you don’t want the marshmallows to explode. Take them out just when the marshmallows start to inflate expand… (The formerly skinny snowmen will puff up like they’re on steroids…)

and voila! You have two snowmen, or lambs or Colonel Sanders… the possibilities are endless.

Operation transfer the snowmen from one plate to another didn’t go over very well, you might need a stretcher  spatula to help you along… the marshmallows will be sticky and Colonel Sanders will be clinging to the plate for dear life.

Lauren ate the toppings off… it was extremely messy but she enjoyed every minute of it.

Whoa! Those are some sticky marshmallows.

DSC07375

Wow. Stretchy.

Livie, loving every bite of ooey gooey marshmallow goodness.

DSC07387 This reminds  me of one of those sticky hands than you can use to pick up paper. I won’t be surprised if I see it stuck to the ceiling in the kitchen.
