Four years for Lauren

Today, my baby girl celebrated her fourth birthday. Four years have gone by in a flash. She brought ice cream to share with her classmates at preschool today for a special treat.

Lauren requested strawberry cupcakes. The girls were super excited to break out their aprons and get busy baking. (We cheated and used a boxed cake mix for the cupcakes, but we made the Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting from scratch and it was totally legit.)

Olivia was concerned that Lauren was going to pour the whole bag into the bowl and she wouldn’t get a turn…

Pink Kitchen Aid busy at work making pink vanilla butter cream frosting. This was so easy, I don’t think I will ever use a store bought frosting again.

Fresh out of the oven, time to head to McDonald’s for Happy Meals, per Lauren’s request.

Gramma and Paw Paw arrived for cupcakes.

Olivia ate the entire cupcake, almost in one bite. Lauren, true to form, ate the frosting and left the cupcake. Daddy ate his, then grabbed Lauren’s, refrosted it, and ate that too. Problem solved.

How many Hamiltons does it take to figure out how to play a simple game?

Poor Gramma, Lauren was digging her long, sharp toenails into Gramma’s leg when this picture was taken…

A less than stellar shuffling of the cards by Paw Paw, left the game slightly skewed at the beginning, much to Olivia’s frustration as Lauren was winning every single time. However, some creative card switching, a sweet and gracious move by Paw Paw, saved the day and the game was a success.

Thank Gramma and Paw Paw for such a fun, new game! The girls love it and can’t wait to play it again tomorrow.

Sweet Lauren, you light up our lives and make us laugh every day with your silly antics and your crazy expressions. We love you so much and hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Birthday Week

Today kicks off birthday week in my family. My darling dad celebrates his today, we’ll celebrate Lauren’s on Wednesday and mine on Saturday. I think cupcakes might be in order…

poppyspicnic

Seriously, how cute?! Lauren had requested a picnic with Poppy and he was happy to oblige. This picture just makes my heart melt. For those of you who have had the distinct honor to have met this sweet man, or better yet, to have him part of your life, you know what a special place he owns in all of our hearts.

Dad/Poppy, we love you more than words can say and are so excited to see you at the end of next week. Six months between visits is an awfully long time and we are thankful the wait is nearly over until when you and Mom/Nanny come back again! Woo hoo!!!

Happy birthday! Be prepared for lots of hugs and kisses when you arrive.

We hope you are enjoying your special day! xoxoxoxoxo

Lauren’s first day

Lauren was excited that she finally got to go back to school just like big sister, Livie. She wanted to wear the new “Doggie Dress”, and frankly, if the dress came in my size, I just might wear it too. Pink and white pinstriped shirtdress with embroidered doggies…oh my word!

Such big girls! I don’t know where the time went!

First Day of Kindergarten (Livie)

Livie had her first day of school on Tuesday. She was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited. So was Mommy. Lauren, not so much. She was sad that Livie got to go and she didn’t. Lauren will be going three mornings a week this year and Livie will go five. After a never-ending summer, we are so ready for another fantastic year at our favorite preschool.

Brand new leather “Keds” Mary-Janes. I love these shoes, they can wear them with everything. Such a great choice for school.

It sure is quiet without these two little turkeys running around. I can’t wait to hear all about their day at school when I pick them up in carpool each day.

Oldies but goodies…

A few beach shots of little Livie from a trip to Edisto Island, three years ago. Check out her chunky little legs…

Hello September, Goodbye Summer…

How is it already September? We’ve had a wonderful Summer, however, we are ready for Fall for sure! Looking forward to school, cooler weather, Nanny and Poppy’s visit, playing outside, sweaters and jeans, chili, soups, pies, pumpkin patches, hayrides, fall festivals and of course, Halloween.

So long, Summer, it’s been a good one…
